Onkyo T-4070 Network Tuner with AirPlay Makes its Debut
Press Release dated: 23 Jan 2012Onkyo is proud to announce the launch of the T-4070 Network Tuner, the best specified model in this fast-growing sector, equipped with Apple AirPlay, FM and DAB+ radio and wireless audio streaming.
AirPlay allows compatible iOS devices and personal computers to stream audio direct to the T-4070 over a wireless local network. The protocol transmits digital audio files with no deterioration in original sound quality for playback on premium hi-fi systems. Furthermore, broadcast of audio to additional AirPlay-compatible devices in a multi-room set-up is also possible.
AirPlay is, however, just one of a number of input options on the T-4070, any and all of which are easily managed via the new Onkyo Remote Apps for iOS/Android devices. As well as a USB port, for direct digital connection of iPods/iPhones and other flash-memory devices (playable formats include MP3, AAC, WMA Lossless, FLAC, WAV and Ogg Vorbis), this remarkably well-featured digital radio tuner has DLNA 1.5-certified ethernet for access to PC-based music libraries, as well as a huge variety of music streaming and internet radio services.
Subscription music services currently available in Europe include Spotify, Last.fm and AUPEO! while vTuner gives free and instant access to hundreds of worldwide internet radio stations. High sensitivity FM and DAB+ tuners (with 40 FM/AM and 40 DAB+ presets) ensure that listeners can pluck a multitude of radio stations from the airwaves.
Intended to complete an Onkyo ‘Reference Series’ stereo component system, the T-4070 is engineered from the ground up for purity of sound. Built around a super-rigid anti-vibration chassis, the unit includes separate Wolfson 192 kHz/24-bit DACs for each channel, DIDRC noise-reduction circuitry, plus gold-plated RCA, AES/EBU, and coaxial terminals.
The introduction of the T-4070 with AirPlay marks another milestone in Onkyo’s mission to bring its customers a step closer to the concept of truly integrated home entertainment.
(Availability of subscription music services and DAB+ stations vary according to country).
