Dear Onkyo. I am a big fan of Onkyo products for a long time already, never had any disappointments, great quality, the best sound, super value for money. My friends are also very much into Onkyo, you really make excellent products. I bought a brand new TX-NR609 about two and a half years ago, but a few days ago it suddenly broke down with the well-known ‘no sound’ problem / faulty hdmi board (no speakers icons on the front display anymore). It’s the first time I’m being ‘let down’ by any of your products, but I’m so glad to read here in the comments of other customers (Cees Moerkerken, Gareth Moyzle,..) that you’re acknowledging the problem with the hdmi board by offering a one-time goodwill replacement of the badly built hdmi board for a version that doesn’t break down. How do I proceed? Do I fill in a form on your website? Or can I send you an email with the original bill from the store where I bought the receiver? I really hope you can help me the same way you made your other customers happy again. Kind regards, Vincent
The sound has stopped working on my TX-NR609. None of the inputs works but I get the picture through HDMI. Googled and there are many other people who have the same problem with this model. Seems to be manufacturing defects on the HDMI board so that it breaks down. I want help to get this fixed, and fast for my cinema room is without sound. I have emailed the support but have not received help so now i also writes on your FB wall. [Ticket # 2014092310001654].
I have the TX-NR609 receiver and I love it. I have it connected to a HTPC with a Nvidia GT610 through HDMI since the GT610 can pass through DTS-HD and TrueHD tracks. I watch both 3d blu-ray and uses the 7.1 track when its there without problems, until now. I just got a sample of Transformers 4 movie with Dolby Atmos but when I play it it starts out fine until some sound effects comes along " in the start where the spaceships fly pass you from behind" and then I get static sound glitch. I tried both PowerDVD 14 and Total Media Theater and made tons of difference settings adjustments on the HTPC but no luck. If I play it in any of the other dolby digital soundtrack there is "5.1" then it stops with the static sound glitch but setting it back to Dolby Atmos it comes back. I have no issue with sound when playing it with my sound card in another pc so dont thing its the source. Can it be that my receiver makes the error and what can I do. Please ask if you have questions. Sorry for my bad English

Hi,If one look the web for "no sound from TX-NR609" it will show as a common problem...(the HDMI board brakes down)What will you do about it?And, I would be nice, and the right thing to do! - to say you will fixed it - free of charge - and announce it here on facebook..
I filed a ticket to your Support august 14 regarding my TX-NR609 that is suffering from the HDMI problem. They replied the same day asking for receipt and some other information which I replied to the day after. 10 days later I haven't heard anything from them, are they on vacation or something??
Hi, I have a TX-NR609 and have no sound via any channel along with greyed out network settings. I've tried filling out the return form and it tells me that my 'unit does not require this update'. I've also tried filling out a support email but that doesn't seem to send. Please advise how I move forward as I obviously have a unit that is faulty.
Hi,My TX-NR609 receiver is not giving any sound. I read on the internet that this model has some known problems with the HDMI card and I think that may be the case with my receiver as well. No sound and the speaker icons in the front display is not showing.I bought the receiver in 2010 in Sweden. Thank you Onkyo for the goodwill repair! Replacing the faulty HDMI board in my TX-NR609, even outside of the warranty, fixed my problem so now i can enjoy this great amp for many years to come! That's what i call customercare!
Hi,I opened a ticket 9 days ago (Ticket#2014080910000381) and didn't get any answer until now. I bought a onkyo tx-nr609 3 years ago and it died with the already known "No Sound/HDMI board" problem.My question is if I can apply for a "goodwill" repair since this is a well known problem from onkyo receivers.thanks.
